Good morning BT!  It's my Friday as my school district has the day off for Fair Day--Monday off too for Labor Day, nice way to start the year!

5:00am:  Strength and stretching stuff.  I am preparing for a 12 hour Run-A-Thon fundraiser tonight with my cross country team.  We are running on the track from 8:00pm-8:00am Friday morning.  Last year I managed 36 miles, not sure how many I'll get in this year!  Need to pull out the endurance legs that I haven't really used since the Ironman!   Wish me luck!

Have a great day!

Have fun at the run-a-thon. 36 miles is impressive!. I like running but not sure about ultra-distance--once it gets beyond about two hours, think I'd rather swim or bike! I think my all-time record is about the same (60 km)--a DIY ultra in Taiwan in my early 20's in that included a nap in the middle.

Just taper stuff here: 1500m of swimming and 20 minutes of running around school fields.

A non tri club swim session for me tonight.
Lots of work on shoulder rotation - which right now I can feel.

6:15 a.m.- ladder workout with cross country team
I'll be working mostly on transition with the tri team tonight. That's the area I think needs the most improvement. Soon after I started triathlons, I realized that transition is the fourth sport.

Hey all!

What a day!

I'm going out of town this weekend and wouldn't be able to do my long ride (95 miles)...so I had to do it today.

I teach Thursday mornings and still had to do that. The power meters on the bikes we ride are pretty accurate, so we approximated 20 miles for the hour ride and then I had to do 75 on my own. Was a little hairy getting through school and work rush hour traffic until I could get further out of town, but wasn't too bad after that. Weather wasn't as hot as it has been, so that was a plus.

Just everything hurt - my butt, my hands, feet (I get pretty bad hot spots on my toes), and was just tired (not sleeping well and one of my kids has been up for the last week coughing at 2:30am). So it was definitely a physical and mental game to get it done and I had some moments of doubt and frustration that's for sure!

Total - 73.5 miles and almost 3200 ft climbing. I was cooked and figured it was close enough. Been wiped out the rest of the day. I think I hydrated and ate enough, but still working on that part.

I'm on the other side of the college-student desk. I'm the one with the red pen in my hand. Those of us with schedules that change from day to day actually have an advantage, I think.
