Hello BT!

5:45am:  45 min run plus some stretching and some core.  That's it for me today...off the fair.  I wonder what kind of fried something-or-other-on-a-stick I will find today!

Have a great day!

AM: 62 minute run with fartlek pickups (can hear my students giggling...)
Noon: 3300m of swimming with a bunch of different sets. It was a really hot day and the pool was almost cold--how does that happen? Lifeguard denies they refrigerate it but got to wonder when it's 95 out and pool feels like it's almost wetsuit legal!

Epic rainstorm (so finally some cooling) late afternoon and into the evening. So much for tomorrow's MTB ride. (Just too swampy for my taste--the paddies tend to overflow after storms and I have sometimes ended up biking/pushing in water above my knees--just think the health risks for me and my bike are too great with that.)

Fried stuff on a stick?? State Fair or something? Reminds me of these tiny fried birds in China that we used to call Tweety Sticks. Will stick with my favorite vices, french fries and dark chocolate (though probably not together).

I'm still sick and it's really frustrating. I went to the pool yesterday but only got in 1000m before I started coughing like crazy. I used the rest of the hour I thought I'd be swimming to do some strength training. Today I'll probably try and do something on the bike, even if it's just an easy 10 miles around the neighborhood. Running is still hard, to, so I'll probably be doing a lot of biking until I'm better.

Sorry you are sick! I feel your pain! Between getting the stomach flu a couple weeks ago, then a nasty cold last weekend, it's SO hard to be patient! Best thing I can tell you is lots of Vit C, fluids and REST!! Even taking a couple of days off will only help! I've found (and this is just me) that if I try to train thru even something moderate, it delays the healing process and just drags it out for another week. Your body is busy fighting something off, give it the energy and rest it needs and you will feel much better (physically at least, mentally it drives you mad). If I just rest, sleep a LOT and try not to stress, I always feel better within a couple days.

Anyway, just my .01.

For me today -
Up at 3:30am - out the door at 4:05 - my first EVER 100 mile ride (101 to be exact :-))!

88 degrees when I left and humid, 97 when I got home, but I felt fantastic! Did the first 45 by myself and met up with my riding partner for the second half. Gave me something to look forward to! Other than a mechanical issue on his bike around my 65 mile mark, we had a great ride and by the time I got home I was thinking - "yeah, I could ride another 12 miles for sure"!

Sorry for the long post - just excited! Especially after not having the best training week, this was the boost I needed :-)!

Be safe out there and happy training!

It's a rest day for me. Played golf and shot -1. I haven't played much golf due to training so it was fun.

Awesome!! Up at 3:30am??? I sure hope you went to bed early. Seriously, a century ride is no easy task.

Cross training today with an easy hour long hike through Pedernales state park. Totally pretty

We have new 10 and 20 week training plans for the New Year! These mini sprint plans are very conservative and will get any person thinking of training for a triathlon ready to cross the finish-line.

Cotswold super sprint - UK. Lots of bodies colliding, I swam half over someone, got kicked by some bloody breaststroker, and as a mob we poured towards the first buoy.

Already a cyclist and not a bad swimmer, I figured all I had to do was build up to running a few miles and I’d be ready to go. The challenge invigorated me, and I ran out to buy new running shoes.

Since I didn't have much time and since it's a super sprint, am I OK just go to at the training relatively hard through Thursday or even Friday?
