Overall Rank = 62/74
Age Group = F50-55
Age Group Rank = 9/9
Pre-race routine:

Got out to the race site about 5:30 since I knew parking would be an issue. Sat in the car and had breakfast while I waited for the sun to come up and transition to open.
Event warmup:

Not much - my race didn't start until an hour after the 70.3'ers went off so just watched some of the swim then got my wetsuit on and waited for my wave start.
Swim
  • 12m 39s
  • 500 meters
  • 02m 32s / 100 meters
Comments:

Actually not a bad swim for me. Wish I would have gone without the wetsuit though - the water was warm enough and I haven't worn the suit since spring - felt a little constricted in it.
What would you do differently?:

Not wear the wetsuit and maybe start a little further up. I lined up at the back but kept running into people.
Transition 1
  • 07m 59s
Comments:

This included a long run uphill from the beach to transition. Still, I could have moved faster. The wetsuit got stuck on my legs and I took a little time to settle my HR before hitting the hills on the bike.
What would you do differently?:

Move a little faster and I need to work on getting the wetsuit off faster.
Bike
  • 1h 27m 13s
  • 19 miles
  • 13.07 mile/hr
Comments:

I really need to learn how to ride hills. I had to get off and walk a couple of the steeper hills. Other than that I had a pretty good ride. I also need to get better at drinking while riding.
What would you do differently?:

Honestly, for my fitness level and hill-riding ability, this was pretty good for me. I would like to get better at hills before next year though.
Transition 2
  • 01m 50s
Comments:

T2 is always pretty quick for me since I don't have to change to running shoes.
What would you do differently?:

nothing
Run
  • 42m 28s
  • 3.4 miles
  • 12m 29s  min/mile
Comments:

Walked the bigger uphills, ran the smaller ones and as much of the flats and downhills as I could. I've been having some Achilles issues lately so tried to go a bit easier.
What would you do differently?:

Like the bike, more hill training.
Post race
Warm down:

Got some food, met up with the tri club and waited for the other members doing the longer races to come in.

Event comments:

I love this race - I volunteered at it for several years before doing it this year. Ultramax always puts on a great event.
