Subject: Mentor needed
Hi all. New triathlete here looking for some support if anyone around? I have completed my 1st sprint tri in July at a time of 1.30. Swim solid and also capable of a 21 min 5k. Bike is where my weakness lies.

Have an olympic tri booked in for July 2016 with some sprints before then as warm ups

Key question at mo is how much benefit I can get from individual spin cylcling sessions at gym through winter and if anyone can recommend some good indoor training plans

Thanks in advance
Marc

Hey Marcdaniels, good effort signing up for an Olympic. But it is a little infectious isnt it...triathlon!

I've been competing for three years now so happy to lend a hand and offer any advice based on my experience. In the three or so years I've been competing I've had some brilliant advice and I'd say you never stop learning during training, competing and speaking to people involved in all three disciplines.

The thing that gave me gains on the bike was resistance training. Dont get me wrong, you need to put in the miles also but on the bike you need power over the short and middle distances - lifting weights has helped me.

I'm on the way to my first Ironman and I'm blogging my journey here https://triathlondaddyblog.wordpress.com/
I've posted a bit about my setup here https://triathlondaddyblog.wordpress.com/2015/09/13/situation-apps-i...

I will blog some gym drills in due course but happy to offer advice on here and blog some leg workouts?
