Wondering if there's an easy way to fix the HR spikes/inaccuracies before I upload to GC/BT/TP/Strava/etc.?  I've tried a couple of different HR straps (using electrode gel) and also have the optical one - I still get some weird high readings at the beginnings of workouts, especially running or outdoor cycling.  Is it as simple as opening the file in Excel and editing it?

Do you wear a tech shirt? The static electricity generated from these shirts can really mess with the readings (until you sweat enough to counteract it). Only thing I've found to work is to get a spray can of "Static Guard" and spray it on your shirt right before you run/ride. Best of luck. I hate those darn inaccurate readings right off the bat of a workout...throws my whole avg HR off and makes it look like I am running at almost full HR max!

Spikes with an optical strap? Weird. Post a file.

You can import them into Golden cheetah and change whatever you want.

Are you sure it's a technology glitch? Could your HR be spiking?

x2 on the static guard.

next option- sometimes putting in a new battery.

sometimes- when a strap gets old (9mos or so), they just start getting lousy and you need to get a new one.

I'm so glad that I went Optical.  sometimes it will pick up my running cadence, so nothing is perfect, but it's pretty rare that it messes up.

In part two of this series of common roadside bike repairs, we show you how to fix a flat tire. Though if you're lucky, a bicycle repairman will wheel by at just the right time.

Can't run outside in the snow? Think again. I flew up the first hill with surprising ease and power. The Yaktrax gripped into the ice like racing spikes on a rubber track. Sweeeeet.
