Short run with some strides and stretching. Couple hundred yards of swimming prior to wave starting
Swim
  • 09m 59s
  • 600 yards
  • 01m 40s / 100 yards
Comments:

Weeds for the first 50 yards or so are always an issue. Not a strong swim for me but pretty uneventful
Transition 1
  • 01m 13s
Comments:

Fair transition
Bike
  • 41m 33s
  • 16 miles
  • 23.10 mile/hr
Comments:

Pushed fairly hard but within power goals
Transition 2
  • 00m 48s
Comments:

A few seconds slower than top 10 guys
Run
  • 20m 19s
  • 3.1 miles
  • 06m 33s  min/mile
Comments:

Early in the run I thought another guy in my AG was ahead of me by a few hundred yards. That gave me reason to push it on the run. Finally caught and passed him about 2 miles into the run. Really picked it up during the pass with the hope he would not come along. Fortunately he didn't and I had the AG win by 1 min 38 seconds.
What would you do differently?:

Nothing. Good solid run
Post race
Warm down:

Cool down run. Packed up stuff and took it to the car then returned for awards and post race festivities

What limited your ability to perform faster:

Good early season effort

Event comments:

Always a well run race in a great venue. GCTT placed 9 in the top 20.

I struggled on the bike while climbing the hill portions of the course. I do fine on long straight rides but really have a tough time while hill climbing. Any advice or training tips?

I’m terrified of biking hills and the triathlon I am registered for has several hills…on AND off road!! I’m willing to do whatever it takes to finish this triathlon. Any guidance?
