Subject: Aero or no aero
So I will be running a number of sprints next season and an Olympic - no plans for a full or 70.3 for at least 2-3 years. Should I buy an aero helmet to run in the sprints and Oly with or should I get a standard Road helmet? Don't want to be "that guy" at a sprint or oly with aero if it's silly.

I've never gone to a sprint where I didn't see a bunch of guys in aero helmets.

Plus, in a race that short, where seconds can cost you a podium spot, lots of people are looking for EVERY advantage.

I wore mine, and have lent it out to others.

Wear the helmet, embrace your inner triathageek, and have a blast.

You'll find a lot of racers wearing aero helmets in sprints. I do (and wouldn't give up on the advantage it does give).

I would suggest getting what you think you can train with and race with vs the race only gear and train only gear, especially since you are not doing the longer distances. The aero helmet under perfect conditions only save 30-45 seconds over a 40 km bike race. That is significant but mostly for elite athletes. There are some newer aero helmets that look a little less rediculous, you might want to look into them. Sort of a nice hybrid between road bike helmet and TT helmet.

Bonus: You'll be lighter so you'll save some time on the run.
