Subject: RE: waterproof watch Have yet to wear my Garmin in the pool, but my experience with "killing" watches is usually that water gets in after the battery has been replaced and the back is not properly closed up again. I've had that problem a couple of times here with Timex Ironman watches, which I'd assume are waterproof (Doesn't Ironman involve a certain amount of water?? ), but it has always happened shortly after a battery replacement, even if the watch repair places do it. So now I "retire" the watch from training once its battery goes. If I like the color and the strap outlives the battery, I'll replace the battery and just use the watch for work, not training (at the rate I sweat in training, any non-waterproof watch is doomed ). |
