Good morning friends!

7:45am:  8 mile trail run.  It's was spectacular.  The light breaking across the desert was so golden it created such strange shadows off the orange and yellow brush that my dogs were skittish--they ran behind me for a good while until the light evened out.  It was bizzarly (made up word I think!) beautiful.  It also was my fastest 8 mile time in a while--all around a terrific morning.

One of my JV boys won the race yesterday with a time of 18:03!  So proud of him!  9 of the remaining 11 ran PRs. So happy for them!!!

Have a great day!  Off to watch older daughter beast it out in volleyball games all day while simultaneously streaming Kona!

Sounds like a great way to start your day!

I did a 12.2 mile run this afternoon. The Austin City Limits music fest is going on right now so I ran on a trail that went around all the stages and listened to the music while I ran. Totally cool.

Congrats to your little runners!

Today was crazy! I woke up at 5:30 this morning and went to a cross country meet. After the race, I ran back to the car and drove to a bicycle rally with my dad. The starting horn went off right as we left the packet pickup area and we barely made it. The ride was brutal. It took us all around the area and up probably close to 6 or 7 huge climbs. By the end, 15 mph was hard to hold. The 47 miles was 20 miles more than I'd ever ridden before, and despite the agony, delirium, and a small crash (fell down at a rest stop, not really a crash, but my knee was bleeding), it was worth it and I can't wait for next year.

It's a happy day today - Kona streaming coverage! WTG on the run and your kiddos Kim!

Out the door by 4am this morning - 112 mile bike

The wind gods much know when I head out on my long bikes, the last 2 have been SO windy…guess it's just good training for what could happen on race day!
Finished the bike with a quick 3 mile brick run…was able to hold a good pace and happy my hamstring wasn't complaining! yay!

2 more long rides to go and then taper - eek! Trying to absorb and enjoy every minute!

Enjoy your Saturday everyone!

Kona streaming happened during Sunday AM ride for me. So disappointed about Rinny's DNF. I was really looking forward to an epic run battle between her and Ryf. By the time I got up and got it streaming, she was already out of the race.

Saturday: AM 65 minute run
PM: Finally managed to do a swim workout in its entirety without being cancelled by swim meet or interrupted by storm. 3200m of swimming including a lot of sprint 50's. Speed really doesn't come naturally to me. Today my arms are still tired!

Connor--Sounds like my 4th of July a couple of years ago. I wanted to do a local 5K but also do our masters' club's "IM Free" workout (the coach has a set of holiday workouts) but they were on opposite sides of town. Managed to finish the 5K (wearing a tri-suit), jump on my bike, and speed to the pool. Got there in the nick of time only to have the coach joke, "Isn't triathlon supposed to go the other way?"

Do we really need chia, spelt, and quinoa? Is anything wrong with old-fashioned peanut butter, broccoli and brown rice?

We have new 10 and 20 week training plans for the New Year! These mini sprint plans are very conservative and will get any person thinking of training for a triathlon ready to cross the finish-line.

Cotswold super sprint - UK. Lots of bodies colliding, I swam half over someone, got kicked by some bloody breaststroker, and as a mob we poured towards the first buoy.

Already a cyclist and not a bad swimmer, I figured all I had to do was build up to running a few miles and I’d be ready to go. The challenge invigorated me, and I ran out to buy new running shoes.

Since I didn't have much time and since it's a super sprint, am I OK just go to at the training relatively hard through Thursday or even Friday?
