I have a question for Ironman Wisconsin Vets, the bike course map on the website says over 6000 ft of elevation gain for the bike, I also see other files that say around 3000. Does anyone have bike course files they would like to share? Or can anyone confirm the elevation gained for the bike.

Thanks in advance!

I am guessing the ones claiming "3000" of gain are stating that for one loop, where as the Bike course is 2 loops. Ironmans site says 6000 and some change.

You will see a wide range of elevation. Peoples gamins record anything from 4-6000 feet, and peoples stories embellish to 7000 feet

Point is, that the elevation gain isn't as important as they fact that it is a constantly rolling course. Rare flat straights. Lots of inclines and declines, turns, and descent with turns and ascents with turns. The course reward the cyclist that is patient, knows to to climb and handle a bike.

Don't worry about the elevation, focus on bike handling, proper gearing, and climbing a wide range of climbs from 1% false flats, to 12% pitches with a turn at the top.

I'm a fairly good climber but don't want to blow up on the run. I'm 60 and have a FTP of 230 watts. Any suggestions?

During the race there will be plenty of opportunities to exchange bottles, so I'm thinking about going with the aero bottle and Gatorade bottle and fill up as necessary. What should I do?

It makes no sense to train hard for a year to hone that aerobic system only to have all that training undermined by a few anaerobic bursts on race day. So, how do you go about it?
