Subject: Hi there
Well after 25 years of raising children and working I figured I should maybe do something for myself :0). I started running but after about a year started to get injured. My nephew was doing triathlon and I thought, "Hey, I should do that! I can't really swim but I have ridden a bike and I can kind of run!" So here I am, 4 years later, 54 years old and having an amazing adventure. I did a couple of introductory tris my first couple of years as I learned if you are coming to this sport from the couch as I have it takes a while to build strength. I still consider myself fairly new to this sport as there is so much to learn. I am looking forward to connecting with folks who love this sport as much as I do, plus everyone I know thinks I have lost my mind...:0).

Welcome to BT!  In my opinion, triathlon is a great sport to transition to as we age as it spreads out the pounding of single sports.  I encourage you to perhaps get swim lessons and get working on your stroke - swimming is the best exercise (in my opinion) for your body as far as a great, low stress workout.  Also, don't forget strength training - even just doing pushups and pullups at home.  Keeping bones density is more important.

Good luck and let us know if you have any questions.
