Subject: Island House Triathlon Anyone follow or watch this over the weekend? I really enjoyed the format and atmosphere of this race. 20 triathletes from ITU, 70.3 and Ironman 10 male/female committed in the Bahamas on a 3 day race weekend.
Day 1: ITT Prologue
Individual TT of a 300 meter swim/7k bike/and a 2k run
Day 2: Draft Legal Super Sprint
3x
500 meter swim/8.2k bike/3.3k run
Day 3: Non-draft legal sprint
750 meter swim/20k bike/5k run
Everyone started based on their overall time on day 3. So first place (Gomez for males ) started first then second place (Murray ) started back however dfar he was back based on the accumulated time over the previous 2 days.
Obviously with the amount of transitions, short-course style setup it favored the ITU guys by a long shot but the format really intrigued me. Lots of racing, lots of speed, lots of hurt, with some durability to match. Super low-kay laid back atmosphere, seemed very grassroots because of it.
I would like to see more of this style of racing come out in races in the states. Yes we have Triple T, but that is far different then this.
