I'm looking to make my first foray into riding through the Michigan winter and will need to get proper shoes/boots.  I'm looking for size 45 although that's mainly because my feet are so darn wide.  So a 44 wide would likely work too.

Just throwing it out there in case someone has a pair sitting around gathering dust.

Thanks for your time.

Are you planning on some serious off-roading that involves a lot of off-the-bike slogging through snow drifts?

If you're just concerned about temperatures, I would think normal bike shoes, winter-weight socks and a good neoprene shoe cover should be sufficient down to the 10 - 20 deg F range. The key thing is to block out the wind.

Nothing quite that serious regarding riding conditions, it's the cold and wind I'm trying to address.  I've got all the things you mentioned and my feet do ok as low as 25 degrees however that's usually the limit before things get cold which is always before I want my ride to be done..

When it's colder than 25 degrees I think cold just seeps in, even without wind...

So, since my beloved go-to shoe brand has changed its shoe, after reading the bruhaha about the minimalist shoe, I decided to give it a try. Now I have a foot issue with my arch area.

Training in the cold can be effective and fun with some planning. Overall, prepare for the environment, stay hydrated and dry, listen to your body and have a great safe cold weather outing.

Whether your bike is new, new to you, or you have not been on the bike for a long time, you really should spend some time thinking about how your bike fits you.
