But, just curious as to *how* much of an impact for the average Joe (or Jane). I eat 95% vegan (the other 5% is the occasional dairy, no meat/fish). I am 80kg and run about 60k a week now (as well as 3-4 swim and 3 strength). I guess I eat OK, sometimes less, sometimes more. But not regimented or planned. Am wondering if paying serious attention to diet can be seen to yield serious payoffs. |

By fuelling and recovering from your training with the correct nutrition I think it can make a huge difference. I also think that the older you are the more difference it makes. I'd also advocate against following generalised advice and get to you know what suits your body and digestive system best. |

I've had tremendous success with a high carb, low protein, low fat vegan diet. Edited by dmiller5 2015-11-11 11:17 AM |

Not sure what you mean by macro breakdown By the way I don't know if this calculator is right: http://www.runningforfitness.org/calc/diet/calorie?weight=80&weight... But I don't think I eat ~4,100 calories a day and certainly do not eat ~200g of protein.... (that would be a lot of Tofu..... :p ) Edited by aribloch 2015-11-11 11:53 AM |

Master 2802 Minnetonka, Minnesota | Subject: RE: Impact of nutrition? I will be a contrarian and say, "Meh, not so much." For athletes on the pointy end, maybe more so, but I liked this line from the NIH on nutrition and athletic performance: Recommendations: The ideal diet for an athlete is not very different from the diet recommended for any healthy person. |
