Extreme Veteran 3025 Maryland | Subject: RE: 100m intervals swims I did a 200/800 test a couple years ago, and that thing is just downright brutal. I ended up with a 19.56% delta...aka I had a LOT of endurance work to do. |

Master 8247 Eugene, Oregon | Subject: RE: 100m intervals swims I can pretty much guess the results if I paced correctly--there would be a difference of about 5-6 seconds per 100m if I did the 200m at a pace which wouldn't destroy me (about 1:30-1:32/100m) and then all-out for 800m. Not that speedy, but I do have good endurance; it's speed that's the issue. Same with all three disciplines. The only thing I naturally do fast is eat. |

Coach 9167 Stairway to Seven | Subject: RE: 100m intervals swims Originally posted by Gregwilkoaus was great fun, exciting to get back into it. 15*100 on the 1min50 it is 3 times per week i will retest in 1 month and revert back. Lets smash this 6min mark!! I think that's a reasonable set 1x out of the week, but why not use the other 2 swims to push other parts of your envelope as well? You had a rapid drop off in your pace so your CSS pace is relatively pretty slow compared to what you have the capcity to hold for endurance. So this once a week 15*100 paced is good for developing aerobiv endurance. Why not create 2 other swims that allow you to pace based of your best estimated 200 & 500 pace as well? mix it up and work on the entire envelope. That's what I would do. On the otherh hand if you thrive on routine, then go for it. My guess is you'll improve your 400 time very quickly with this protocol and you'll be ready for bump in pace, mabye in as little as a week. |

A TI coach suggesting intervals to work on speed at varying distances instead of all easy technique work with long gliding strokes and a slow turnover. That's not what I read in all the threads!

Lol..i havn't even discussed stroke length, % of wing span or tempo in this thread! Don't get me started... |
