Subject: Road bike setup advice
So next year I'm looking at two half IM. Budget might not stretch to a full blown triathlon bike. Any advice on how I could get a specialized tarmac setup to help with the run afterwards?

Set it up to bike well. Pace the bike well to run well.

I did my first 2 Ironmans on my road bike so I'll let you know what I did to modify the bike.  Adding clip-on aerobars was the obvious first step.  Next, I brought it in to my local tri shop and had them work with me to re-fit the bike for more of a "tri geometry".  This involved 2 major alterations.  The first was swapping out my stock handlebar stem and replacing it with a shorter stem.  Next, we rotated the clamp on the top of the seat post so that it points more forward than the stock road bike position.  These 2 alterations effectively moved my torso forward and put me in more of a "tri" position than a "road" position. Hope this helps.
