Subject: Looking for something new...
Hi all, just writing quickly to introduce myself after having been reading these boards for a little while. I'm just getting into this sport after finding the need for a new challenge after leaving my competitive team sports days With graduation from school (at least for now). I have a few friends that are into the sport and have encouraged me to see how it goes. Should be a good time. Thanks for the insane amount of info here. It's already helped and been fun to read

Welcome, casey21! I'm glad you've found value in the forums and articles. Have you tried any of the Training Plans yet?

I used one of the beginner half iron training plans for the basis of my training plan as that's the distance we'll be running late spring. First goal is to finish up marathon prep over the next month as we'll be running a marathon at the start of the new year which should be fun.

I have pedals with the cage and when I ride 2+ hours my legs feel much more tired then if I took out my husband's bike with clipless pedals. Do clipless pedals truly make the difference?

I started riding this spring with the Carnac shoes on Look pedals (with plenty of float). About five minutes into a ride I get sharp pain on the outer edge of my feet, just behind the pedal.
