The day was beautiful. Water was nice 65. I had a decent swim(only 2nd time wearing my wetsuit) and bike was okay , but run was blah. I started having some hip issues right out of the gate, which I have only experienced on my marathons towards the end. I could tell in the last 3 miles of bike it felt weird. Needless to say, but ended up walking about 3/4 of a mile. UGH!

here are the numbers.

S - 1/2mile - 16:43
T1 - 5:14
B - 14.5miles - 52:07
T2 - 2:25
R - 4.5miles - 47:44

I had fun though. I guess that's whats the most important part. I'm not shooting podiums anyways

Congrats! And yeah, having fun is the most important. And you will learn something new from every race. Maybe do some more brick training to see if the hip issues repeat or improve.

Six years ago I was 44 years old and weighed 260+ pounds. If anybody had suggested to me that at age 50 I would complete a sprint-length triathlon I would have rolled my eyes and grabbed a doughnut!

My lungs were burning and my legs were hurting but I had the biggest smile on my face as I ran on the red carpet and received my Ironman 70.3 medal.

Earlier this year I did something I never thought I would do: run a 10k. Last weekend I did something I thought was even further out of reach: complete a triathlon.

When I told my husband that I planned to work toward completing a sprint triathlon, he smiled and was supportive, but a bit disbelieving.

After I left the running store, I couldn't stop thinking about the sprint tri and how much of a challenge it would be for me. So instead of joining a gym, I started riding my bike and it felt great.

I couldn’t help but feel that the race had beaten me. Perhaps duathlons were more for me? No, I was more determined than ever to succeed. I was determined to get on top of my swimming.

In the past 18 months, I have delivered two babies, had meningitis, broken my pelvis, had two surgeries, worked full time, AND completed my first triathlon!
