Subject: Sore Hips

Hi all,

I have been waking up with a stiff back for a while now.  Usually it will loosen up after an hour or so, quicker if I do some good stretching.  It seems to involve 2 muscle bands right at the base of my back.

Suddenly, my back has been fine but my hips are bugging me, not only are they stiff and sore in the morning, but when I sit at my desk too long I can barely walk when I stand up.  Again with time and stretching they loosen up, but if I sit again they get tight again.  I hobble around my office like a little old lady, coworkers are starting to comment.

Anyone have any suggestions on how to avoid stiffening up so much that it interferes with normal movement?  I am not sure if working out has anything to do with it (age?).  The right hip muscles usually are a lot worse than the left and even if they are loose enough for normal movement the muscles still feel sore through out the day.
