Subject: preparing for my first tri
Hello all,

I have been trail running on and off for the last few years. I did, together with colleagues, a sprint relay triathlon last summer and I really enjoyed the atmosphere around this event (mont-blanc triathlon). I also started swimming early in the summer (without triathlon in my mind) and haven't stopped since then.
Unfortunately I injured my foot in September and it is still bothering me (seeing specialist in Jan.) That is why I haven't really started training for a tri yet.

In any case this week I will start biking again (first hometrainer) and wait for the docs results before I start running again.

I have set my goal on finishing the evergreen endurance 50.8 (11 Sept) and 1 or 2 sprint as a prep but the main goal is getting comfortable in the 3 sports.

I hope the Beginner mentor program will start again in 2016, I really like the idea behind it and hope to profit from the experience of others.

I'm blessed with where I live (Jura mountains, close to the Alps), great for running and biking (hilly terrain but not too steep, forest paths, single track, low traffic roads) and work (close to a pool where I go swimming 2x per week, and not too far from lake Leman where I could do open water training when needed).

The bulk of my training will be done during lunch-breaks and bricks during the weekend.

Looking forward to my first tri season.

Welcome from Canada.
Good luck in your training and dealing with the foot injury.

I have always been an athlete, growing up playing team sports like basketball and soccer. I also ran in a couple of 10K races every year, so I had no reason to worry about running a 5K...right?

I never imagined that 350 yards broken down into 7 REALLY long lanes would be so big! I gasped out loud and told Grady that maybe I had underestimated the swim.

This life of mine is not so different from yours. It has a multitude of similarities. I suffer from uncertainty, I get nervous at the thought of registering and when getting to the starting line.

I am not going to buy a tri-suit before my first tri - I want to make sure I am going to stick with this before I spend a lot of money on it so I want to figure out what will work best.

I couldn't believe that my splits kept getting lower! I started to run harder after I passed the "5 km" sign and picked a few people that I wanted to pass.
