Getting a strange neuropathy thing. Periodic burning, stabbing "sting-like" pain in the outer left thigh a couple inches north of the knee. Maybe 2-3 times a day. Lasts maybe 5-10 seconds.

I can easily find references to it on various medical sites. Everything from random neuropathy, to specific blood vessel related neuropathy, to some specific 'nerve syndromes" related to athletes. Not that I think of myself as an athlete, but I do athlete type stuff.

Nothing that leads to any real immediate concerns. Just....unnerving....if you'll excuse the pun. Anybody else run into one of these? Obviously, I'll see a Doc. if it continues or worsens and let them figure out which one it is.

I own a dirty old factory and this is inventory time so I'm in and out of a lot of dusty boxes. I freaked out when it first happened thinking it was a brown recluse bite. I've seen a few around in the plant, but we've been here getting near 20 years and nobody's ever been bitten. I'd know for sure if it was a bite by now.

I've had these sharp pains lasting only a few seconds in my thigh approx 8 inches above my knee. When I start having these pains I take extra magnesium/calcium supplements which seems to stop them. Not sure why this works, but it does.

I suspect you have meralgia paresthetica. Perhaps during your work activities you had on too tight of a belt or waistline on your pants?
