So half of our discussions are "well he is polling better so he will win"   polling aside, actual election aside, which candidate would you put in office if you had the only vote and why.  I want a republican, and I want a democrat.  And only the remaining candidates are allowed.

Bernie and Kasich, as he seems most moderate on the R side.

On the Democratic side, I'd pick Hillary, but I'm not enthusiastic about it. As I've said, I like Bernie for what he brings to the discussion, but a lot of his ideas are too out there for my tastes.

Kasich on the GOP side because he's the most moderate of the group. The next-furthest-left guy is probably Christie and I think he's a buffoon.

I can't vote for anyone on the Dem side.  For that matter, all the Rep candidates have problems too.  I guess in the end I don't care, but I'll vote AGAINST Clinton.

After watching the last GOP debate, I'm pretty sure every candidate except for Rand Paul wants to go to war either Russia, Iran, China, or all three. So by default, I guess I'd have to say Paul. On the other side of the aisle...ugh.

I like the question.  At this point, I'd probably say Kasich.  I'll be digging deeper into them when the primaries get here, but if he is still in it when the primaries come to Florida, I'll be leaning that way.  Sanders from the Dem side.  I agree with LB on this. Whoever is running against Hillary gets my vote.

I don't think there's a candidate in either party that deserves a vote. That said, just to keep in perspective....Jimmy Carter was leading in the polls by around 60/40 back in 1980 at this point in the race if I remember correctly

Man, I wish Jimmy Carter was able to run again!  I bought my first house when Carter was President.......at nearly 19% interest on a 30 year loan.

Wait..........never mind.

Ah yes, the good old days. I remember camping out in line at a bank for a few days when 12% money came up.

Trump on Republican side (because he's the least bought candidate)
Sanders on the Democratic side (because he's the least bought candidate)

Rand Paul, because I find his ideas rational and reasonable + I believe he means what he says.

I haven't checked in to see what Hillary says she wants to do, so I can't say which candidate on the Dem side.

I don't care for any of them again. I'm looking for a fiscal conservative with liberal social values. Does such an animal exist?

Pataki may have come closest to that, but he just quit.

It sounds like it should be so easy, doesn't it?

The part that's even worse is that even when somebody comes out as a this or that, we all pretty much know they're lying and will do whatever their donors want them to.

In addition to writing your race number on each upper arm, they also wrote your age on your calf. This allowed me to see who was passing me by in the bike section of this race.

If you are going to do a triathlon, you need to know at least some of the basic rules that can keep you from getting hurt or hurting someone else.
