Pre-race routine:

This is an evening race and was intended as a fun run with DS2 so I did a 5ish mile group run with friends in the morning.

We headed down to the race site and parked about a half mile away from the start finish. We got ready in the car then walked over and had hot cocoa while the kids were doing the kid k.

When it was time the adults lined up on the course, "listened" to some muffled announcements and we were (slowly) off.

Comments:

This is not chip times and no results are given but i know from Strava that my time was a minute faster than last year.

It was fun. As usual DS2 took off quickly, but this time not knowing how the altitude would affect him. The course is pretty with the farolitos (luminarias) to guide the way, but this year I wore my headlamp. It was nice to have and probably saved my from tripping a number of times.

This was at a pace faster than I've been doing for my LR/trail runs but I knew it was "only" 3 miles so I kept up the intensity and was happy for it at the finish.
What would you do differently?:

Post race
Warm down:

I found DS2 at the end and we went for water (no need for the warm cocoa at this point). Then we decided to go for dinner and a beer.

What limited your ability to perform faster:

genetics, training for something completely different

Event comments:

This is a small organization that puts on a number of races each year as fundraisers for the local running youth. This one is fun and has a great atmosphere.

In November of 2000, I noticed that I was losing the feeling in my toes. The sensation traveled up my body and within a week, I was nearly 80% paralyzed.

For as long as I can remember, I’ve had weight issues. I remember standing on the scale as a child weighing 60 pounds and feeling fat. My family dealt with stress by eating.
