Just plugging along - 201 miles so far.

It's finally warming up around here, so I'm going to try running outside for what I think is only the third time this year. Been a bit of a sissy with the weather, but basically I won't run outside if it is much below 30F. Just in time too - I'm running out of patience for the treadmill.

238 Miles!

Had a half marathon last weekend. The race was along a "park" along the Belt Parkway in Brooklyn. Its in my old neighborhood and that was the path that I used to train for my first marathon 20 (ouch) years ago.

The race is dead flat and a double out-and-back loop.

Managed to PR at 1:54:28 too

WooHoo, congrats on the PR!!!!!!!! And isn't it nice to go back to your old stomping grounds?

Roland, hope you are recovering.

212 Miles for me. I've got to get back to longer runs and consistency. For a Girl's weekend, signed up for a May marathon and I'm not ready. Will be a slow one.

bwingate - congrats on the PR
I'm about 39 miles behind the pace rabbit which means I've made a bit of progress. It is the first time in a while that I have been within 40 miles.

Just put myself into the spreadsheet. Feels great to be in the black so early in the year. Let's keep it there!!

April is off to a slow start - family issues have kept me from almost anything except work and care during the week. This also means that I'm putting in the bulk of my work on the weekends - really unbalanced. Hopefully things will get into balance soon

I'm around 370 miles - still ahead of the pace bunny.

Ugh! 55 miles behind the pace bunny.

I was gradually gaining but I haven't done any running for 11 days because I was experiencing pain/aching in my hip and shin. I actually felt pretty good when I was running or biking but I would feel the ache when I was sitting or resting at night. It was quite unfamiliar which made me cautious about pushing through it. My next big event right is a three day 320 km supported bike ride in the mountains so running isn't really a priority at the moment. I'm going to play this by ear, but it's looking like I might not make 1000 miles this year.

Don, enjoy the bike ride and don't worry about the running right now. Afterwards, all may be good and you can catch up.

Welcome, Jamie.

I've was out of running for about two weeks because of a cold and sinus infection. This last week, I've been trying to get back into it and doing everything slow. 316 miles and almost caught up with 1000 mile bunny but not with my 1225 mile pace bunny.

I hit 500 for the year during my Ultra last week. I'm looking at another ultra for November so I'm thinking I'll hit the 1,000 this year

Don

Double ugh!
I didn't do the 320 km bike ride that I had planned for May 21 - 23 because the weather forecast was terrible. I don't regret cancelling because the weather was cold and wet and the ride would not have been much fun.

The hip pain that I mentioned above cleared up a while ago, and the week of June 6 -12 was the first week in several months where I got more than 20 miles in. But I now have plantar fasciitis so once again I am laying off the running for a week or two.

Fortunately I don't have any big races planned for the summer months. I'm going to focus on cycling and I also plan to start a body weight strength routine - something I have intended to do for a while.

I hope others are having better luck with their running goals than I am.

Sorry to hear about your plantar fascitis Don. Hopefully you'll be back after some time off.

I'm back in the black on the spreadsheet but only by a hair.

RRunner, WTG!

Don, sorry about the PF. Experienced it before? FWIW, marble pickups, painful massage, stretching my foot up and down on the tortoise shaped calf stretches, and taping my foot helped me. But I think PF fixes work different for different people based on where the pain is, what type of pain, cause of the PF, placement of the moon, etc. Good luck.

I keeping pace with the rabbit - barely.

My brother wanted to do the 2016 miles in 2016 challenge but didn't think he could do all the miles by him self so he pulled me into a team.  I told him I would be doing about 25 miles a week but didn't commit to a set number of miles. I guess my share is 1008 miles.  Our team just hit its halfway march and my brother just passed me in miles.  I am going bike focused for the rest of the summer and don't any more races planned, but I want to get my 1008 miles in this year.

Running again and it feels great. Actually it feels hard, my running sucks and I'm slow - it's hard to start again after a couple of months off. But at the same time I somehow feel like a more complete person - as if my body has been craving the stress of running. Hard to explain but I think you get it.

I'm not paying any attention to my mileage.

Soon after I got married, I decided I needed to get motivated to work out and focus on getting back into shape. I could barely jog a quarter-mile without needing a walk break.

I think quite truly for the first time I 'get it'. It's not just about the fitness. It's not just about the great little endorphin rush as you hit 5, 10, 15 miles...its not just the medal at the end.
