439 nashville, Tennessee | Subject: saddle discomfort Does the pain from the seat ever stop?? I've been racing for 5 years and have done all distance races and it still hurts when I get on my trainer and ride. Trainer is worse than on the road. I rode 45 min this morning and my crotch is sore now. Does anybody have a solution for this? Maybe try a different(possibly split saddle)seat? Have you gotten used to it over time and it just doesn't bother you now? Or are you like me and it sucks every time you sit on your seat? |

Veteran 276 | Subject: RE: saddle discomfort Same here - this will be my fifth year, and while I admit I don't get nearly enough T.I.T.S. (yeah, I said it) my business is still sore and even goes numb from time to time. I've been on the stock saddle. I tried fooling with some other saddles last winter (two Fiziks and a Cobb) but never really noticed any improvement - this was all on the trainer. Edited by CycloneVM 2016-01-20 9:28 AM |

However you should not always be in pain. Once your riding on a regular basis you should be able to do your normal length rides without discomfort. I think once you get past about 75 miles most people have some discomfort. On my road bike that's usually about the distance, on my tri bike its more like 90-100 miles. If your not riding on a regular basis there is some discomfort until you get used to it, just like anything else. |

Extreme Veteran 959 Greenwood, South Carolina | Subject: RE: saddle discomfort Have you tried to level the saddle? I place a book on the saddle and then a small level to check. I also recommend Cobb saddles which I found the best out off all the saddles I tried. Great customer service and quality work. I couldn't have made it through training for IM races without having comfortable saddle. |

Not a Coach 11473 Media, PA | Subject: RE: saddle discomfort It should not hurt every time you get on your bike. Try different postion. Try different saddle. Try different shorts. Use chamois cream liberally.

439 nashville, Tennessee | Subject: RE: saddle discomfort Thanks! I may try to slide my seat forward a little although after being fitted on the bike I've always hated to mess with it. I also think I will end up trying one of those adamo road type saddles. |

165 | Subject: RE: saddle discomfort Mine isn't so much a pain but a numbness. My crotch gets numb, and it's like I can feel the seat up in my chode cutting off the blood flow. Are there seats with splits that allow for more taint comfort? |

Also keep in mind that you are sitting 99% of the time on the trainer and not really moving around. Outside you are shifting your weight around, moving and standing from time to time so you arent putting all that pressure in one area all the time. I try to stand every so often on my trainer sessions and this seems to help even on longer rides. |

FYI adamo saddles were designed by John Cobb before he started his own business. If you like adamo you will find something in the Cobb line up you will like as well. Cobb also has a free trial period. |

Champion 19812 MA | Subject: RE: saddle discomfort No it shouldn't hurt to ride your bike. Have you had a good bike fit? Lots of things can contribute to saddle discomfort including fit, shorts, lube or lack there of, saddle (stock saddles typically suck), time riding.

239 | Subject: RE: saddle discomfort I have an Adamo Prologue saddle and while it is designed for comfort, I still experienced some soreness on the trainer or rides outdoors longer than a few hours. The Adamo still works, but I had to make the nose more narrow. So, I bought a $1.50 hose clamp from the local hardware store and started compressing the rails to make the nose more narrow. My issue was rubbing/chaffing in my inner thighs, and a bit of numbness on the gooch (Google this if you don't know what it means). Anyway, I also tilted my seat down ~3%...not a lot, but enough to get much more comfortable. Now, I ride for 4+ hours on the trainer without any discomfort. I still lube up for longer rides, but all the discomfort is gone. |
