Subject: Upgrading from a Kestrel Talon
I've been on a Kestrel Talon for the past 2 years now doing a variety of sprints and Olympic distances. The only physical upgrades I have done on the bike is change the tires from 23mm to 25mm (good improvement). Now I'm looking to do my first 70.3 (Steelhead). I was wondering a couple things. Should I upgrade to another bike, and if yes, which one? Or should I just make a tweek or two like a new set of aero wheelsets?

An update.

Due to a couple mechanical issues in the past week, my schedule moved up for a bike upgrade. I have upgraded to a Cervelo P2 105.

I read somewhere about "bar ends" to put on your handle bars, do you recommend them? Is this similar to adding clip on aero bars?

The wheels are my first area of concern and I have started to shop around. I find it nauseating to think of spending the same amount for wheels as my bike. Any help?

Bike upgrades to gain speed: better wheelsets, a tri-bike, road bike with aerobars, even getting rid of those love handles before getting that lighter bike.

So when it comes to triathlon, the largest investment we make, in both terms, comes in the bike. Looking at ways to get faster, while considering a budget, is a bind for most triathletes.
