Used to have prescription Oakleys and prescription swim goggles. The Oakleys were kind of expensive when I got them, but the goggles were reasonably priced. Got lasered back in 2006ish. Probably the most bang per buck I ever spent. it is nice to be able to 'buy off the rack.'

I used to wear prescription sunglasses and swim goggles.  Now I just wear contacts, I have never had any issues wearing contacts while doing multi sports.

The benefit for me is that I can by cheaper sunglasses.  I lose them all the time.  I am hoping to get laser surgery sometime soon.

I was never able to wear contacts. I had a pretty bad astigmatism in my right eye; that meant a weighted or toric lens. Sucker felt like I had a hubcap pasted on my eyeball! I actually did a couple races wearing contacts during the swim, removed them at T1 and wore my scrip oakleys for the remainder of race. Getting the prescription goggles lowered my T1 times, exponentially!

How did your surgery go?  I also have a pretty bad astigmatism, the right eye is worse.  I can wear regular contacts however they aren't quite what my prescription should be.  They don't make the breathable ones in that prescription.  It's only 1 step off so not to bad.

I just fear that my vision will get worse and I will have to switch to glasses.  I hate wearing glasses.

I had to get PRK done because my cornea was too thin for lasik. A little longer to heal and some pretty miserable days. They basically scrape off the top layer instead of making the flap like they do in lasik. Once they finish the laser correction they put a huge contact lens over the eye and the material they scraped off, grows back, under the contact lens. Ever put a contact in wrong side out? That is what these lenses felt like.

Don't worry about it getting worse. If you aren't a good candidate, they won't accept you as a patient. Oddly enough, I still haven't thrown out my glasses. Neither has my wife!

They recommended always wearing sunglasses outside when possible. I don't have a preference other than to suggest you get polarized lenses, because a plain tinted lens won't protect your eyes from damaging sun rays. I did buy a pair of Smith Pivlock glasses this year. It came with three lenses and it is a frameless design. Nice to have in the aero position for optimal visibility.

My eyes get really dry wearing contacts while biking so I ordered some prescription Oakleys (polarized).  My vision isn't that bad but I do have some astigmatism, so it's nice when I wear those glasses.  I don't care that much about them while running, I'm usually zoning out anyhow

Thanks for the suggestion!

Can you tell me about the price of your sunglasses?
Because I got a sponsorship from an online optical store called firmoo. They are selling some pretty cheap glasses including prescription sunglasses.
They will send me one for free and if I feel good about it, I can buy 5 pairs more only with the shipping cost.
I think it`s a good deal, but I`d also like to try other brands as well.

I do. I wear percription Bolle sports glasses.
They fit my head. I gave 4 shades to choose from.

I didn't like contacts and I've never considered the lasik.

I had prescription googles, but they got expensive after a 5th pair. I'll get it figured out again.

When I was training and competing I used prescription Oakly Crosslinks with transition lenses. I absolutely loved them. I also had a pair of Oakley Prescription sunglasses, but I preferred the Oakley Crosslinks as I could wear them inside or outside.

I do. I have pretty bad eyes so I have almost all my prescription glasses made by a famous brand here in Australia.

I have a pair of Rudy Project Rydons in my prescription at the end of 2010. I worked it out with my vision insurance that they were my pair of glasses for the year. The prescription is a little out of date but it's fine for what I need.

One issue I have is that when I am forced inside for my runs on the treadmill or track, I usually go without glasses. I have an old pair that I use sometimes as they are very light, but they do not grip like the RPs. I don't want to be that guy wearing sunglasses at the gym.

As for swimming, I have never had prescription swim goggles. My eyes are not that bad so I can usually find my way to the start line. I sometimes wish I had them for my pool swims so I could see the workout on the whiteboard and the pace clock a little better.
