Subject: How many bikes
Hi,

Just wondering if there are any triathletes out there that has more than one tri bike?

Just being curious.

Just one tri bike for me, plus I have a road bike and mountain bike. I think that is probably the norm but the bike geek in me would always like another bike!!!

I've got two tri bikes, but I'm selling one of them. I'm keeping the one I built.

Now as for the rest of the stable... MTB (about to be replaced), two gravel bikes (and another in the queue), road bike (with another in the queue), two other road bikes that are on the selling block, track/single speed, and a couple other project bikes...

This, plus a fixed gear for me. I'm going to strip the roadie down and do a ground up rebuild on it this year.

I am actually down to 2 bikes right now. I Sold my Tri bike last summer after picking up a used road bike in the spring. Selling the tri bike allowed me to buy a full suspension mountain bike for Xterra racing. I have also always had a rigid hard tail mountain bike. I just recently sold the road bike I just got last year as I want to do more offroad racing which requires a cyclocross style bike. I still havent bought that one but will before the end of the month.

Long story short, sold 2 bikes in the last 12months and bought 2 with another on the way. I have also bought a good set of wheels for the FS MTB and upgraded the hardtail MTB to discs and foresee a set of road wheels for the CX bike.

Two tri bikes, 6 road bikes, a MTB and a comfort bike for around town. My wife has 3 tri bikes, 5 road bikes, a MTB and a comfort bike.

Yes, a few too many bikes, but honestly, I use 3 of my road bikes on a regular basis (they're built up for different terrain, plus I keep one bike at my in-laws so we always have bikes to ride there). I only need one tri bike, but haven't really gotten around to sell the extra one.

The triathlon bike vs. road bike quandary. Before you even ask the road bike vs. tri bike question, you should have a couple sprint triathlons or duathlons under your belt.
