Hey kids!  Finally a gorgeous day here!  Got out for a nice 8 mile run. The hard work I've been putting in during the week on the treadmill at faster paces is definitely paying off.  Felt great!

So...who's watching the Super Bowl today?  I'll watch because I really do like watching football but love the commercials even more. I hope they're funny--the last few years they've kind of been a dud.  As far as who I'm rooting for...the Panthers, only because they have cuter uniforms.  I know, what a chick thing to say! Lol!

Glad the banana/egg pancakes are a hit--had them yesterday myself!

Have a great rest of the day!

Enforced rest day for me as Mrs B is away for the weekend. Did manage an hour in sauna and hot tub whilst kids were swimming, so a bonus I guess.

I had a nice 6 mile run. I am pulling for the Broncos as I would like to see Manning ride off in the sunset with a trophy in hand.

Nice weather here too, not wretchedly hot for once. Did an MTB ride with a group (about 2 1/2 hours) and actually was wearing a light jacket for about the first 20 minutes. (Temps in low to mid 60's.) Very cool ride as yesterday was the day before Tet ,so all the villages had decorations up, the markets were super-busy, and we even came across a dragon dance. I was supposed to ride 2:45, so came home and did a boring 15 minutes on the trainer before heading out for a 20-minute run.

Nice warm, dry weather all day. I went downtown for brunch and to look at the Tet decorations and by that time, there was hardly anyone on the streets but foreigners. (Vietnamese, at least the traditional ones who aren't hanging out at Starbucks, have a lot of family and religious obligations on Tet and the day before.) It was one of the few times I have been downtown mid-day and not felt like I was going to melt!

PM 15 minutes of core stuff. Plus about half an hour of trying to kill a big wasp that got in my apt. In the end I stood on a chair and sprayed him with Raid. That freaked out my cats and made their eyes and noses water uncontrollably for about half an hour, so had to calm down and cuddle some distraught kitties. Thankfully no one needed vet attention, as that wouldn't happen on Tet--pretty much the entire country comes to a halt. You can't even get a medical appointment for about ten days--only the emergency room are open. My pregnant colleague is terrified she'll go into labor (she's at 38 1/2 weeks) and not be able to have her usual doctor for the delivery.

There are all kinds of superstitions about what one is/isn't supposed to do on Tet and Tet Eve. I've already incurred bad karma by owing money to my housekeeper and the school cafeteria (you're supposed to settle debts before Tet, and I forgot) and I'm sure killing a wasp and flushing him down the toilet is bad news as well. So might as go all the way and cut vegetables (means "cut your fortune") and take out the trash (means throwing out money) today!

I'll admit--I do not even know who is playing in the Super Bowl!

Evening!
Rest day for me today. Took the dogs for a walk, that's about it.

Watching the Super Bowl now. Rooting for THE BRONCOS!!!! Love Peyton Manning and I can't stand the way the Panthers showboat everything…just not good sportsmanlike behavior IMO.

I'm training for a full marathon in three weeks in New Orleans. Sunday I did my long run; 15 miles at my v-dot easy pace. Beautiful February day, high clouds with temp near 50., I could see Mt. Rainer which is about 50 miles.

had a decent run for 1/2, but on the last mile I had a bad cramp in my foot and cost me a lot of time to cross the finish line. wound up with a 2:18

i soon forgot about it after a few beers and football.

We have new 10 and 20 week training plans for the New Year! These mini sprint plans are very conservative and will get any person thinking of training for a triathlon ready to cross the finish-line.

Cotswold super sprint - UK. Lots of bodies colliding, I swam half over someone, got kicked by some bloody breaststroker, and as a mob we poured towards the first buoy.

Already a cyclist and not a bad swimmer, I figured all I had to do was build up to running a few miles and I’d be ready to go. The challenge invigorated me, and I ran out to buy new running shoes.

Since I didn't have much time and since it's a super sprint, am I OK just go to at the training relatively hard through Thursday or even Friday?
