Hello everyone, to start off I'm a beginner period :D Just starting up to train for my first ever marathon, I'm not even a triathlete. I joined to learn something new and maybe something here would motivate me to pursue being an athlete

Welcome to BT and triathlon Jazmine!

First full marathon is a big deal, you are already an athlete because you are training

Check out our open mentor groups, they're great. Link is in the top post of this forum and the main Triathlon Talk forum.

Is there any current literature or recommendations on this subject, and when do you know it's time to stop activities like running before the damage is done or worsened?

Yesterday I was a little sore, and today, whenever I bend over to pick something up, standing up again hurts badly. Have I done some sort of permanent damage? What can I do to rehab this area?

My right foot is killing me (flat feet, wearing orthotics). I can no longer run on it and am forced to walk. After walking 10k, my foot felt like it was squeezed really hard.
