Subject: Xterra Crew - Any Takers?
This year I plan on racing as many Xterra off road tris as I can. I raced Xterra Greensboro last year and had a blast. This year I purchased a MTB and have been adding MTB skills rides to my training.

I'm looking for other local triathletes (I'm based in the Triangle) that would be interested in training rides but more importantly, ride and room sharing to get to races. Xterra events aren't convenient (save for Greensboro and Whitewater) and company would make trips to Tsali, Oak Mt, etc much more enjoyable.

These are the races I'm either registered for or am considering:

Xterra Fort Yargo (Winder, GA)
Oak Mt (Pelham, AL)
Greensboro
Tsali (Bryson City, NC)
Whitewater (Charlotte)
Panther Creek (Morristown, TN)

If you're interested in any of the above (training, racing, ride-sharing, etc), please reply or PM me.

Jason

I'm in Durham, and wouldn't mind doing training rides with you if we can figure out a good time. The best I have for off road is a cross bike though. Would any of those tri's be good for that? I've done some training rides out at umstead and those were a lot of fun.

Xterra disallows XC bikes at their races for safety reasons. I also have a CX bike and (used to) train at Umstead on Sundays. I say "used to" because since I got my MTB, I have had much less interest in the CX bike! I may sign up for MonsterCX but other than that, it's probably the tt bike and the mtb for me until CX season.

Is that what you are talking about? Do you know if there is anything else like that around here? Or anything like that this side of summer?

Immediately I felt attracted by the challenge. I have done plenty of biking this summer and a new motivation, particularly toward the end of the summer, was what I needed.

My 1st triathlon, Xterra and the mess I made of myself. This wasn’t your regular triathlon, it was off-road.

The XTERRA off-road triathlons consist of a lake swim, a mountain bike trail ride, and a trail run. I decided to try the AZ Xtreme Desert XTERRA Tri as my 1st off-road triathlon, and my 3rd tri ever.
