Subject: Tomtom multisport watch
I am beginning triathlons and am looking to get a watch to help with training and possibly on race day. Does anyone have the tomtom multisport and if not what watches are good for beginning triathlons? I am looking at the tomtom because it is only 80 bucks now

For $80- it's a steal.  There are more fully featured multisport watches out there, but especially for someone just getting started, this will do what you need it to do.  It has a big, clear display and simple operation.  Get a HR strap to go with it.

I have this watch and it's okay. Certainly not reliable. Screen will often go white and only way to fix was to plug in briefly. This ruined several workouts and one race. The main button gets struck and doesn't allow you to do anything. This ruined a second race. This happened again in the pool two weeks ago and it was not recoverable. I had owned it for 14 months and they said it was off warranty, but they agreed to fix it. They have a new model that may have fixed these problems. The GPS was accurate but the displayed pace was always off. For example you could check frequently during a run and be between 8 and 815 pace, but when your done your average is 830. In short there is a reason it's 80 bucks

I agree with the above post-- a friend of mine had this watch and didn't like it for various reasons. Switched back to using Garmin.
