I rode a lot down in Georgia when I was stationed there in the Army, however I haven't seen a lot of Cycling Events here in the Dayton, OH area. I searched the races list here on the website. Is there another website that would provide me with that list? Also, I see a lot of time trials series. Do you have to be signed into the series to ride those?

I'm not aware of a bunch of races but there are a few, I think there are more "tour" type rides than anything. But honestly I haven't looked for much. I know speedy feet puts on the blue streak time trial at wright pat and I have heard a lot of good things about. I have never made it though because of work schedule. Below is link to speedy feet

The events listed on the site would only be timed races.
If you are looking for recreational rides, there are a lot, but they would be on the sites of the riding clubs around your area. There are also statewide events such as GOBA and TOSRV. If you google those, you might find the organizations behind them, and then a list a cycling events near you.

Well I'm an experienced triathlete and I would join a tour or group ride any day, but I'm scared to death of a time trial! What's your reasoning?

Near Dayton . . . cycling. . . lots. Check out the Dayton Racing Team's website or go to USA Cycling's website. There is a lot of racing about to begin here in April, most within a decent drive of Dayton.

This month's fun and fast training will help you improve performance and raise your metabolism so that you are feeling a bit hungry all the time and really burning up those calories.

I was filled with anticipation for this event, as it was the first in what I hoped would be many triathlons, and I had no idea how I'd do.

How should I go about training for the marathon while also building base in the other two events? Doing this seems like it's causing me to break the 10% rule in running.

Know that base training is not a component of training that is going to necessarily make you faster, but it will make you stronger and give you more endurance to last through the longer races.

Knowing where the fluids are, how they will fit on your bike, how much to reach for, and when to reach for it should be understood prior to ever setting foot on the course.

I had read the articles on BT, I'd trained, and I thought I had prepared. There were, however, a few things that I didn't internalize despite what I'd been told.

Your training schedule should be based completely on the hours you have available to train, not necessarily on the number of hours you "need" to train.
