Well, I'm officially average. Taking out the data from when I'm getting in/out of my shoes from my last race, 25.1 mph on 277 watts. Guess I need to look into a new fit.

Hey, I recognize you from the race! I think the rough road conditions on the way back altered the numbers a bit. I know I was getting caught up in a lot of that patchy asphalt on the way back and it was really slowing me down. Doing the same as you, and cutting off the beginning and the end I was at 23.1 mph on 216....so in the same boat as far as "good", of course, without so much power.

Yeah, now that you mention it, I do remember Pitts being pretty rough. That was the tailwind section so doing 26-27 mph there and must not have registered that the road may be affecting speed.

wouldn't it be cool to start some sort of database, think akin to that thread on ST.  where we had data like this.  could really start to show whether or not things like power to spin on those HED3's outweighs the supposed faster wheels.

Chris, using some rough estimates from Best Bike Split against the Oceanside course.  Using your weight and an AP of 188w and a time of 2:47:30 I get a CdA of 0.261 which puts you in between good and better on Marc's scale.  I'd say the elevation is throwing things off the speed result in the chart.

Of course, whatever Marc spits out will likely be a more accurate representation.

I haven't done wind yet but I come very close to that as a first pass at .265. There is a section I had to set to .4.
I suspect this is the no pass/speed limit section. It's after the biggest climb. Not sure that makes sense.

I will post the virtual elevation comparison when finished

Thanks...  the no pass/ speed limit section was about 1:58 , mile 38.5 ish, which is actually after the second large climb, so not sure that's the same place

If I fall there your chart is pretty spot on, have helmet, wheels, etc but no specific testing....  And where Lionel was before the recent changes LOL

Curious what type of tolerance or range one might be put on the plot? Chris & I are both bigger than a 165 lb triathlete and others are smaller.
