Bought a 2014 Cannondale Synapse Carbon Hi-Mod Ultegra--LBS said it is a good bike for the price.

Question--Keep the Cannondale crank on it and ride it without power. Keep my old bike (specialized Ruby) with the stages crank on it and use it on the trainer.

I can switch the Shamano crank with the stages powermeter on it to the Cannondale. Is it silly to put the old Shamano crank on the new bike with the Ultegra components?

Not sure what to do--I have two bikes and one powermeter!! Not an option to buy another powermeter! Thoughts--thanks in advance for your responses.

Denise

Put the powermeter on the bike you'll ride the most. I put a 105 compact crank on a new "ultrega" bike a few months after I bought it. Cranks are one of those components that don't seem to make much of a difference to the average rider. Get the gearing and the crank arm length right and you're good to go!

Definitely on your main bike. What good is a power meter if you only use it once in a while?

I have the same issue. If the stages is on a shimano hollowtech II crank arm just buy another shimano crank for the new bike. you can get a 105 from merlin really cheap or pay a little more for ultegra. I have 1 ultegra crank and 1 105 crank with a stages dura ace crank arm. Since I don't switch between bikes too often its no big deal for me. When I want I can just take off the left crank arm and switch it to the other bike. If you want to go even cheaper switching the whole crankset is actually really easy too.

I am in the market for a new road bike, at several local bike stores I will test ride several bikes. Other than basic fit and components, how should I compare them while doing a test ride?

My expectations for the quality of this years’ Triathlon world championship were fulfilled. This was because of the superb location that is like no other along with having the top triathletes present.
