Good morning BT!  The town I live in has a high Hispanic population so I'm sure my kids will be bringing me in all sorts of delicious Mexican treats!

4:30am:  60 minutes run: 20 min WU/5X4:00 incline repeats at increasing inclines.  Hard work today!

5:30am:  :40 minutes lower body strength + core

Later:  bound and determined to get out and swim at Blue Lake today!

Have a great day BT! It's almost Friday!

Enjoy your treats! Sounds like you've "earned" them already! Not much festivity here. I do have a few Hispanic colleagues (and Anglos from New Mexico) who are throwing a party this weekend, but I will be otherwise occupied.

Heading off to Danang for tomorrow and I have yet to do the final obsessive checklist thing. Not sure I have the alertness/energy to do it tonight. I usually wake up about 5 no matter what so maybe should just go to bed and deal with it in the morning. Taper madness has truly set in--I woke up five times last night wondering, "Were my pedals in the bike box before we taped it shut?" Now I am about to cut it open, check, and tape it shut again. LBS is actually closed (they are all going to Danang for tech support) so not sure what I would actually do if pedals WEREN'T there. I guess put back the original clunkers? Only triathletes will appreciate this, I think.

Anyway, it is not much of a taper. Either my coach has a different concept about it than I do, or she's afraid I'll get sick as that's what I tend to do if I do too extreme a taper. No really long stuff but my last brick was Tuesday, and it included some 100% FTP intervals! Yesterday was very light (just 1500m of swimming) and tomorrow is off, but today actually included 40 minutes of running and 2600m of swimming. So I am ready for bed.

Rode outside for an hour. Three days in a row is a record for me for a several weeks.

HR- good luck with the race. I have not heard the name Danang in a long time. My dad commanded a flight squadron there during the Vietnam era.

It will be an exciting weekend for us. Both boys graduate college Saturday. One is at 2:00 and the other at 4:30. The campus's are one hour apart so we think we can make both.

Sounds like maybe a good bike ride between the ceremonies??

Yes, the first/only IM Corp. event in Vietnam is in Danang as of last year. There are one or two low-key tri/adventure race type events in country, and I think Challenge is starting a race in Nha Trang in the fall, but this is the only iron distance one so far. Most of the bike/run goes along the city beachfront, and a resort area south of the city.

BTW the pedals have been found. Actually quite a search--they were taped to the seat post with so much tape I couldn't see what they were. Who woulda thunk? Just a little worried that something might be missing or switched as they were disassembling about eight bikes at the same time on Tuesday!

4 mile run this afternoon. still recovering from 1/2marathon. quads were little more tender than expected. Could be part of my ride training for Century coming up on the 21st.

5:15am - 60 min power spin

Went for another bike fitting - I'm determined to find a saddle for my road bike that I like!

Celebrated Cinco de Mayo with a margarita at lunch - then I wanted a nap - lol!

"Fandom" in triathlon compared to other sports. If you're a sports fan and simply love to follow sport, why pick a sport that may offer a view of the start, the finish and a few moments in between?

Don’t forget this is an incredibly big year for sport with the Olympics back in Athens where the modern Olympics started, and especially triathlon to make its second appearance.
