Subject: 6'0" - Couldn I fit on a M/56cm Argon 18?
I'm really tempted to buy this used Argon 18 Krypton (see add below) and am getting mixed messages re whether it's too small for me. Purpose would be to start training for Tri's and to bike to work.
Anyone own a Argon 18 road frame, or has an opinion on the matter, that could compare/help me out?

Thanks!!
Tony

Just knowing your height doesn't help all that much in terms of fit. For some people your height 56 would be fine, for some too small, and perhaps others too big. If you really want to know if it'll fit, get a bike fitting done. There are lots of places to get this done in Ottawa - Bushtukah and Cyclelogik are two shops that do it but there are lots of other fitters. You'll leave know what stack/reach numbers to look for and likely a list of bikes that will be the best fit.

I'm 6' 2" and I currently ride a 56cm Fuji Aloha based frame on my tri bike. The fit is adequate. I have been able to train for and ride two OLY's and one HIM. It's not ideal, but the price was right so I made the decision to compromise on the fit. I don't regret it.

With that said, when I buy a road bike I will not compromise on fit. . For $2500 you could find a lot of nice bikes, and not compromise.

Yes, no, maybe. And all 3 possibly the right answer. Height is a terrible indicator of bike fit. Short upper body and long legs and then yes, it might very well fit. Longer upper body and shorter legs, then no, it won't have enough reach. The maybe is the worst of them all... trying to make a bike fit you is simply put a bad idea... it should be the reverse, the bike should fitted to YOU not the other way around.

Getting a "great deal" on a bike that doesn't fit isn't a good deal at all.. Unless you KNOW you can sell it for what you paid for it.

I know you're trying to help, but the fit of a 56cm frame from other brands doesn't mean anything... There's no standard as to what a "56cm" means. Nor is there a standard HOW 56cm's are measured, so even if you look at the geometry chart and the fit looks the same, it may not be.
