Up at 5:15AM for 7:00AM race start. Light rain for the first five miles or so.. Warm day. Hung with the 3:55 pace group first four or five miles. Tired at about mile 7 1/2 and began to run walk.

Things did not go right both physically and technically. Did not run my normal race, could not keep running..... Chip time was not read for some reason as I crossed the starting line! So, net time (chip) and clock time were the same. Started race in Corral B which was released 5-7 minutes after the Elite runners. Race time was recorded as 2:17:40 and Garmin recorded 2:11:22 which I am using as my race time. I was basically penalized 5-7 minutes because my chip time was not recorded. I would have been even more disappointed had I run a good race with my normal pace and then being penalized 5-7 minutes which may have kept me out of the age group award category..

Fueling: One RCS and one Mito before leaving hotel. One gel at mile 5 and another gel later on in the race. Drank one 10oz bottle with 2 scoops of SE and one 10oz bottle of water during race.

I just started doing tris this summer and I have two under my belt, both sprints. Is it reasonable to build up for a Oly in early ‘09, with a HIM in Oct of ‘09

Steady is our walk. Ignoring the pain that is radiating from my feet, I continue to place one foot in front of the other. Again I wonder, “Why am I doing this?”

Having three seasons under my belt I thought I knew what I was doing. That all changed with a few new challenges and a bunch of new friends.

This program should be used for an athlete whose goal is to run a marathon in the 1:30-2:30 range and has a good running base in the past 8-12 weeks.

I will assume you have not run consistently more than 6 miles and have never completed a half-marathon. I believe running your first half-marathon is a big task which requires dedication and work.

My training was taking off. I had never felt stronger. I was making bigger strides than I ever had. I was stronger and faster than I had imagined myself ever being.
