Subject: How do you account for relays in results

I never thought too much about it before but how do you account for relays in results.  I never really understood why relays were left in the individual results.  So if you were 10th but a relay is ahead of you in results are you technically 9th?  Not something I am loosing sleep over, just curious how people view it.

I guess it's the timing companies but it's mixed by me.  Some do, some don't.
