Hey! I grew up there! Town looks nothing like it once did, thats for sure -so built up.

I'm no longer there, but check the Y? They may have some info, and if there is a Masters swim class, its likely there are local tri folks in the class. I believe Lake Pearl in Wrentham has a sprint tri they sponsor, so that could be another good venue for making local contacts. Don't know if there is a bike shop in town, but if so, always a good spot.

Yep, I swim at the Franklin and Foxborough YMCA in the mornings before I head to work.

A good bike ride around here is the burnt swamp road in Wrentham down to the reservoir in Rhode Island.

Hey I know I'm like 6 months behind but bear with me - I've done the Lake Pearl tri a couple times which is YMCA sponsored (Hockomock which is North Attleboro, Foxboro, and I believe Franklin as well).  It's small but fun, and growing every year.  My wife did a couple of them the two years before me and it's definitely grown!  I plan on doing it again this year.

Also check out the 'newbie' tri prep class they do the week before.  I'm not a newbie but do it every year anyway - it's an excuse to donate $20 to the Y's Reach Out for Families and Youth campaign, and its the only time you can swim the swim course other than on race day - it's a private beach for members.  Plus you get a guided ride on the bike course.

How close are you to the North Attleboro YMCA?  They have one, I believe Monday and Wednesday evenings.

I got about a minute into it and, despite bracing myself against it for months, I panicked. I could not get my breath. I said, "I can't do this, I can't do this."

I went into the pool area (as this was a pool swim) and got body marked. That's when it hit me that I was there to race - this was not a clinic.

The triathletes really inspired me. I watched them in awe as childlike thoughts went through my head like, "I want to do that!" But then reality set in. “Who are you kidding?
