Subject: Journey to my first 70.3
Hi all

After completing a couple of sprint triathlons earlier in the year, I have decided to jump into a 70.3. I have registered for one in late December, and am starting training now.

Being from the southern hemisphere, I am currently in the middle of my field hockey season. For me this means one training and one game a week, about 1.5 hours each. Because of this I haven't been doing much running, just a couple of swims, a spin class and an outdoor bike.

I know the bike will be my weakest leg, so am looking to join a cycling club in my area. I have previously completed a 1500m open water swim and a half-marathon so feel relatively comfortable that if I put in the training I will be okay in these areas.

I have looked at some plans and a few different articles, but if you have any information that you think will help, it would be great to hear.

Louise

Welcome, Louise!

The half-iron plans here are good and will get you to the finish line barring any mishaps.

Cycling club is a good idea too. No tri clubs in your area?

Welcome. I second the notion that the free HIM training plan here at BT is a good one.

Have fun and good luck with your 70.3.

It was the morning of Ironman Newfoundland 70.3, I felt queasy. I didn't want to eat or drink anything. I had a full blown case of the pre-race HEEBEE GEEBEES.

Remeber why we do this, we all have our reasons. I had trained for six months, and it was now time to actually do my first sprint triathlon.

My journey began after visiting a friend in the hospital after his wife had just had twins. I noticed immediately that he looked great. He had easily lost 30 pounds since the last time I had seen him.
