Normally before I race I'll spit into my goggles, splash some water around, secure the fit and test the seal just before the race starts. This weekend I'll be goggling up on the go in T1 for this run-swim-run. It will undoubtedly be hot and humid. Any tips on ensuring a fog free swim without taking minutes in T1 tweaking the goggles? Maybe leave water in them in transition, then just dump it out when it's time for them to go on?

Wear the goggles for the first run.

I'd have a bit of water with some baby shampoo mixed into it - that tends to hold up well.

Interesting race format, I've not seen that before.

As someone who loves running and swimming and only slightly likes biking, the aquathon is the dream race! I only wish there were more of them. With the baby shampoo, do you have it rinse it out first though? I wasn't planning to stop for a rinse.

I don't rinse mine.  I use a baby shampoo / water mixture for every swim.  A couple of drops in each lens, swirl it around and go.  If you can avoid getting it on the edge of the goggle where it touches your face it is better as that can make it a bit easier to leak.

If you wash them with baby shampoo/water the night before and let them dry, not touching the inside it should be good. Don't wipe them out just rinse them.

Using a high-volume schedule for many months is not the best tactic. Build speed and skill several months out, and then transition to a high-volume IM plan.

Honey, great news. I just spent our kids’ college fund on a new bike! The sales guy said it will shave at least 3 seconds off my 40K time. Umm, honey why do you have a knife in your hand???

A lot of my unnecessary troubles and tribulations were because of my defiance, acting on my own naïveté and strong will. I was not acting on the advice given to me.
