I have a favorite spot on my bike ride that I like to stop and take a short break. Love it early in the morning when the day is new and just take a quick minute to appreciate the view. I spent many mornings in this area training. I train hard but I also like to take time to appreciate what God created for us to enjoy.

So do you have a favorite spot or area in your route that gives you peace? Post picture if you have one available.

As the fog cleared, the buoy that I first saw earlier in the morning was just the first marker in a very long line of buoys that stretched across the lake like a runway for a 747 jetliner.

I got about a minute into it and, despite bracing myself against it for months, I panicked. I could not get my breath. I said, "I can't do this, I can't do this."

I went into the pool area (as this was a pool swim) and got body marked. That's when it hit me that I was there to race - this was not a clinic.

The triathletes really inspired me. I watched them in awe as childlike thoughts went through my head like, "I want to do that!" But then reality set in. “Who are you kidding?
