Wow!  Great races yesterday--podium finishes!  Outstanding! Can't wait to read the race reports!

4:45am:  :25 minute walk to get moving

5:15:  :45 minute upper body strength

In a few: out to chase CC runners

Later:  3-4 mile trail run with the doggies

Have a great Monday to start the week!

Normally a rest day. Today, though, is a recovery day - 30' walk this afternoon.

Have a great week, everyone, and congrats to HR on your podium at HIM Calgary!

This morning was my 2 minute plank followed by 22 pushups while the coffee brewed. After that was a 1.15 mile run, at as fast as I can pace. After my disappointing run in my tri, I decided I was going to start doing some sprinting to try to speed myself up. I started with one mile and am adding .05 miles to it each (every other) day.

I am sure I will still be disappointed in the run, but hopefully not as much so. Have a great day all!

Considered doing interval training? When I was at my fastest (running), my weekly routine was pretty simple. Long run at easy pace. Once a week, I did 1 mile intervals at tempo interval pace, with 1' rest between. You can get a lot of the same kinds of benefits from shorter intervals (1/2 mile, or even 1/4 mile), but you'll need to adjust both effort level and rest intervals.

I have considered intervals, and I even downloaded a timer app for it. I just havent started it yet. Thank you for the suggestion.

Hi there!

5:30am - 5 mile run - ended with more walking that I would've liked but just didn't have any energy. I think I'm still fatigued from last week.

8:45 am - 30 min Strength work and PT exercises
9:30am - 45 min spin. Was so hot/humid in the gym today and I was a little shaky, but made it through.

I went into the pool area (as this was a pool swim) and got body marked. That's when it hit me that I was there to race - this was not a clinic.

I have been able to swim 200-300 yards without stopping for the past couple of weeks, but this morning I couldn’t swim more than 50. Could not eating make a big differance?

This is not an easy task, especially for the “9-to-5er” with family. But you can do it – all without sacrificing your marriage, job or family.

Once you caught your breath, it occurred to you that finishing even a short triathlon might be harder than you thought. After a few "laps" you thought, "I can't believe I'm so out of shape."
