I typically don't notice the finishing times of the top pros and AGs, so this may be a non-issue, but was I the only person who thought it a bit strange that a non-pro guy was the top finisher at IMLP yesterday and the pro women's champ came in 2nd overall? And Heather Jackson won in a course record too. I would have thought that the person breaking the tape would be a pro woman.

Oh well. Just noticed that interesting finish yesterday and thought I would ask the question.

It's not terribly unusual for one of the top male AG'rs to finish ahead of the top female pro.  It's actually one of the big complaints that pro women have - the top male AG racers end up mixed in with the female pros on the bike and can potentially interfere with their race due to different drafting rules.

Yes, it's basically a no win for the RD on how they arrange the start. If the put Fast AG males(20-50) behind the pros then some of us mix in with the pro women on the bike, interfering with their race. However if they put us in the back(Eagleman did this 2 years ago when I raced it), there are a lot of complaints because of the massive amounts of overtaken on the swim and bike with the slower AG's.

As mentioned before its not uncommon for male AG'ers to surpass female pros. Ryan also used to be a pro, but gave up his card, he also won the overall amateur at IMTX. His wife Jacqui also won the female AG overall and would've been 5th pro. They are a crazy fast couple, and both very much deserved their race, especially Jacqui and her struggles recently.

IMLP was not a PRO race for the guys, it was a female only PRO race. You could try to guarantee a female finisher first over the line by stretching out the start between FPRO and AGers, but depending on the course and who shows up there is no guarantee.

My foot is now in a tremendous amount of pain, it is swollen, and I can barely walk on it at all, it hurts so much. I am still putting the gel on, taking anti inflammatories, and icing. Help!

I sometimes have severe pains on the top of my left foot. It feels like a knife is stabbing my inner foot on the outer portion of my foot. These pains happen mainly at night but not while riding.

If you are calm while everyone around you is losing it, you probably don’t know what the hell is going on.

More than any other factor – including distances in other sports, weight, height – time on bike proved important for faster performance.
