Subject: Wetsuit Question
Hello all,

I've been looking for a wetsuit and finally came across one that I think will work for me but I thought I'd ask the pro's here first. I'm new to triathlon and don't want to spend a lot of money on my first suit. I found an Ironman VO2 Stealth for sale that is roughly 10 years old. The owner assures me it is lightly used, in great shape and well taken care of. Is there anything I should be worried about with a wetsuit that has been on a hanger in a closet the last 10 years? Is the tech to outdated?

Thanks in advance,

Wayne

Look up Emilio DeSoto's article about wetsuit care -- you'll want to soak it before putting it on to re-hydrate the neoprene. But the only real concern is whether it fits you or not.

a 10 year old wetsuit is going to be stiff and compressed.

If you haven't swam in a wetsuit before, you will find if it is not flexible in the arms, and chest will just plain suck.

I wouldn't spend a penny on it.

I'd look at the XTERRA Vortex on sale. I just checked, you can get a Vortex full for $160.

Thanks for the info. I think I will continue looking around.

Unfortunately, it won't give me an option for Canadian shipping.

What size are you? There is a classifieds section here.
The bc tri federation has a for sale page, so I assume alta will, too. Craigslist... Local tri clubs..
What is your general budget?

There is a great Facebook group called Tri 'n Sell It. There are always lightly used wetsuits for sale on there and most a decently priced. I would check it out.

depending on the brand I'm a M or ML. 5'10" and 180lbs.

The Alberta Tri website doesn't have classifieds but I checked out the BC one and there is some good stuff there. Thanks for the recommendation.
