Agreed, but with the caveat that Asic didn't get cute and make a significant change between the 16 and 17. It's not extremely common, but it's common enough that I'd take the time to check to make sure they didn't make a significant change in the lasts or the heel-toe drop from one model to the next. ETA: Like JK said, if they were the exact same model, they don't need any break in period. I've personally raced a hilly HIM in shoes that had literally a mile and a half on them before the race.
