I bought a CX bike over the winter and have done 3 event with it. They were a 38km race, a 70km and a 156km race, all were gravel grinder type events and not really Cyclocross. I do plan to try cyclocross as well this fall. From a gravel event perspective I would have to say they are fairly ridiculous in a very fun way and also very challenging.

As far as cross over from Tri I would say that there is very little aside from the obvious pedaling in circles. For me mountain biking skills - bunny hops, clearing obstacles, maintaining traction on slippery and muddy uphill sections are far more applicable. Look through my race reports if you like - Runny Nose, Paris to Ancaster and Eager Beaver

If you can do a running mount out of T1, and a running dismount into T2, that will cross over. Other than that, pretty much nothing else.

Just jump in and do it.

A lot of cities will have a weekly cross group, get started so you can get used to the totally different mindset, practice starts and barriers. Your tri fitness will give you a great base for the explosiveness you need, but to be a great cross racer you need to practice a lot of bike handling skills as well.

My right knee has a pain in the front, just below the kneecap. I walked 24 miles of IM Louisville. No pain while walking but it started immediately when trying to run.

So here I was, a hard-working, respectable, just-turned-forty-six-year-old, who never considered herself athletic, lining up in my swim cap and goggles for my first triathlon.

I couldn't believe that my splits kept getting lower! I started to run harder after I passed the "5 km" sign and picked a few people that I wanted to pass.

What to wear under the wetsuit? What to wear for the bike and the run? Good thing someone invented the wonderful trisuit, to which we’ve become accustomed. It’s supposed to make our lives so simple.

Enter the new TYR X-Sight goggles. The X-Sights have been designed with a flexible nose bridge that (surprise, surprise) is shaped like an “X”.
