Subject: Gel Holders for bike
In my 1st triathlon last month I simply taped a gel to my top tube, which worked fine. While setting up in transition that morning, I noticed a couple of bikes with gel holders that pretty much works like taping the top of your gels down, just a lot nicer looking. In my Google searching, I saw a brand called Gelrilla which does not exist anymore. Does anyone have something like this, and if so can you tell me who makes them?

Thanks!

Wow, never seen these before and it seems like a solution to a problem that doesnt exist. If aesthetics are the issue I suppose a bento box might look better.

I don't have more info about those open type gel carriers,
but we manufacture some advanced US-made aero bento packs that mount in several ways, fit lots of gels, and are quick and easy to access:

Or, if you want to go a low-packaging gel route, you can even do this:

All questions welcome,

hope that helps,

Gel flasks are fantastic for people who want to use gels for on-bike nutrition. You can buy the bulk gels for cheaper pricing and the flask makes things completely mess-free. You don't have to worry about ripping open the package, and there's no sticky mess to fumble around with. It can be a little scary to watch people try and deal with those gel packages after 4 or 5 hours on their bike!

Depending on your preference, you can go the bento box route or just shove the flask in a pocket.

I ride with a bento, but usually have my flat kit stuck in it and have gel flask in a back pocket of my jersey.

During the race there will be plenty of opportunities to exchange bottles, so I'm thinking about going with the aero bottle and Gatorade bottle and fill up as necessary. What should I do?

Energy bars and fluid replacement drinks have their place – and will surely be the subject of future reviews – but there is nothing quite like the immediate lift an energy gel can provide.
