Sunny
Total Time = 1h 17m
Overall Rank = 155/264
Age Group = 45-49
Age Group Rank = 18/30
Pre-race routine:

PB Sandwich
Event warmup:

Not much. Trying to stay warm before the swim. High 50's outside temperature.
Swim
  • 07m 46s
  • 300 meters
  • 02m 35s / 100 meters
Comments:

Good first 200 than the pool got cluttered. About 7 or 8 people in front of me so no point in passing just to get stuck behind the next person. Just took it easy the last 100
What would you do differently?:

Seed with a quicker estimated time
Transition 1
  • 02m 46s
Comments:

Lost about 20 to 30 seconds trying to find my bike. My prescription goggles were fogging up real bad and I couldn't make out the rack numbers
What would you do differently?:

Get LASIK
Bike
  • 31m 13s
  • 10 miles
  • 19.22 mile/hr
Comments:

Very good bike. Never got passed. I passed about 10 to 15 other riders. Some of the riders were taking up too much road and I had to slow down a few times for them to move out of the way
What would you do differently?:

Train more on the bike. Didn't really do much bike again this year. Always surprises me that my bike is so much better than my runs even though I spend most of my time running
Transition 2
  • 01m 54s
Comments:

Smooth
Run
  • 33m 20s
  • 3.1 miles
  • 10m 45s  min/mile
Comments:

Only water station was right out of transition though there were supposed to be water stations at mile 1 and 2. Signs a Mile 1 and 2 indicated water stations ahead but they never came. I would have brought water if I would have known that. Pace was right on par given the fact that I had 2 months downtime with an ankle injury and Strep Throat 3 weeks ago.
What would you do differently?:

Don't get injured or sick :)
Post race
Warm down:

Nothing really

What limited your ability to perform faster:

Injury during the year and strep throat 3 weeks before the race.

Event comments:

Very nice neighborhood race. Like the family friendly atmosphere.

Great job dealing with some challenging conditions like congested swim, congested bike and waterless run. Thankfully it wasn't too hot or the lack of water could have been a bigger problem.

Great way to finish out the season. Congrats.

Congrats on having a solid bike and a good race, finishing out the season in style!  Sorry to hear you were recovering from illness and injury but it sounds like you did good despite those factors.  Here's to ending a good season this year and on to an even better season next year, armed with all the knowledge you picked up in races over the season.

Nice job!  I wear prescription goggles too.  I carry a travel size bottle of baby shampoo to dab a little into the goggles.  Rub the shampoo around and rinse it out...no fogging at all after that.
